We find which joint lost its motion.
Hands-on work for a joint that has stopped moving and tissue that has stopped letting go. Then the movement that makes the change stick, one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, every visit.
What It Is
Manual therapy is skilled hands-on treatment of joints and soft tissue. Your therapist uses graded pressure and guided movement to give a joint back the motion it lost, and to settle tissue that has gone stiff and guarded around it.
It is a piece of the plan, and we will not pretend it is the whole thing. Hands-on work opens a window. What you do inside that window, the loading and the retraining, is what keeps the motion after you walk out.
Cupping, Graston Technique and spinal manipulation are their own treatments, with their own pages. Manual therapy here means hands, a joint, and the tissue around it, chosen because your cause-first evaluation pointed straight at them.
Hands-on, then loaded
What It Helps
When a joint loses motion, everything around it starts compensating, and the compensation is usually what you feel. Left alone, the stiffness stops being a symptom and starts being your schedule.

It should feel like firm, deliberate pressure, not like something you have to brace against. A few spots are tender simply because they have been guarded for a long time. We work at a level you can breathe through, we tell you what to expect before we start, and you can ask us to ease off at any point.
They overlap, and they are doing different jobs. Massage works broadly on soft tissue. Manual therapy is aimed at the specific joint or tissue your evaluation flagged, with a specific motion we are trying to get back, and it is followed by exercise so the change holds. We have a licensed massage therapist here too, so you can have both.
Manual therapy is one tool inside a plan, not the plan itself, so the honest answer comes out of your evaluation. You will hear what we found, what has to change, and roughly how long that takes, built into four phases: Pain, Prime, Perform, Prevent. Hands-on work gets used where it helps and dropped when it stops earning its place. Questions before you book? Call us at (808) 597-1555.
